The Hackney Alliance to Defend Public Services is supporting the TUC’s March for the Alternative!
Supported by all the major trade unions in Hackney, and many community groups, the Hackney Alliance has been campaigning against cuts in council services, at Homerton Hospital and in changes to housing benefits etc in Hackney since July 2010 and have held several large public meetings, marches and Lobbys of the council and produce a two-monthly No Cuts Bulletin..check out our website for copies, more info and details of what we do; hackneyalliance.wordpress.com
We reject the idea there needs to be cuts in services for people in Hackney or elsewhere. The greed of the banks created the need to bail them out and while the CEOs of Barclays and RBS still get £5million+ pay awards, while banks pay billions in bonuses and while companies like Barclays and Vodafone each evade millions in tax every year, we do not accept us being the ones carrying the can. And, like with the Poll Tax campaign, we also know if we join together, we can win!
So on March 26th thousands of Hackney people will be taking part in what will be a massive march against the cuts. We urge you to support this march and if you wish to come down with other people from Hackney, come to the meetings points …
