Hackney UnCut for the NHS Saturday May 28th

Hackney, London Sat 28th May 2011

Time: 11am

Location: Gathering outside the walk-in centre at Homerton Hospital

Plan: Small rally with speakers from Homerton Unison branch, then an informal procession to the hackney bank

We will transform the bank. Please bring your scrubs, health care attire and send a message that it is the banks that are sick, not the NHS. It is the banks that need reform, not the NHS.

Who?: Everyone, this is a family friendly event. All residents of hackney welcome to unite and fight.

…………………………………………………….

“The NHS will last as long as there are folk left to fight for it.”
– Nye Bevan, founder of the NHS

“Andrew Lansley. Greedy Andrew Lansley. Tosser.”
– MC NxtGen

This is an emergency. The welfare state is in peril. Under the guise of ‘efficiency’ and ‘reform’, this government is plotting to cut the NHS and sell off what’s left. Andrew Lansley has claimed the government is in a ‘listening exercise’ about the proposed NHS ‘reforms’. But despite widespread outcry from doctors, nurses and the public the government isn’t listening to anyone apart from private healthcare lobbyists.

Let’s make Lansley listen. We want to keep our healthy NHS and fix our broken banking system. Whilst the NHS is being dismantled, the banks that caused this crisis in the first place have been left untouched. Reckless gambling, obscene bonuses and a global financial crisis are symptoms of a disease that requires a drastic intervention.

Homerton Hospital is facing a whopping cut of £15m. The number of midwives and face to face language translaters are due to be reduced. Cuts to community midwifery could mean an increase in the infant mortality rate in Hackney and without the help that comes from face to face advocacy patient care will be put at risk.

WE will meet, really, march and then transform a Hackney bank into an nhs service. Bring all nhs atire! The banks are sick, not the nhs!

See you on the high street.
